Walk-Up Auxiliary Pantry

OBJECTIVE:  The decision to execute this project may initially seem antithetical to Hope Clinic’s client-focused mission given the fact that its implementation effectively eliminated the client waiting area within the Farm Stand. However, well before the changes to the waiting area were made, the space, which now houses the Walk-Up Auxiliary Pantry, had long since ceased to function as a waiting area, a casualty of the global pandemic. In the first month of the outbreak, the Farm Stand was closed entirely and only resumed services several months later when deemed to be an essential service, and when Hope’s Medical Director assessed it appropriate to do so. The restrictions necessary for the safety of clients and volunteers alike essentially meant that clients could no longer enter the building to pick-up, and accordingly, the waiting area became needlessly vacant space. PROFICIENCIES:  SketchUp was used to model and explore numerous potential layouts, assess the viability of each, and to select the final design to implement. Additionally, the plug-in Twilight was used to model custom lighting and to render many of the scenes in semi-photorealism.

OUTCOME:  Based on the recommendation of this designer detailed here, the waiting area was permanently repurposed, and the decision was made to build and install the additional shelving units which now constitute the auxiliary pantry.
