The Farm Stand | Make It Better

OBJECTIVE:  The objective of this project was to reimagine the Farm Stand facility, so that despite the constraints of a limited space, the structure could nevertheless accommodate the expansion of Hope’s Auxiliary Pantry. The upgrades include:  (1) custom shelving for the seamless and efficient storage of perishable and non-perishable goods,  (2) an automatic door for easy entrance and exit, a modification which would greatly enhance the flow of traffic and eliminate a chronic bottle neck, (3) ADA-compliant sidewalks and ramps to better assist those who rely on various modes of mobility assistance, and (4) a brand-new kitchenette to enhance hospitality and replace the existing and inadequate one. PROFICIENCIES:  Each type of shelving unit was meticulously constructed in SketchUp and fitted with custom lighting. The Twilight plug-in was utilized to render many of the models, giving them a near photorealistic finish. A wealth of experience in communicating detailed designs was leveraged to provide Hope Clinic’s management and board with compelling descriptions of each project goal, the rationale behind each proposed upgrade, and the expected impact on the Farm Stand’s functionality and the experiences of donors, volunteers, and above all, Hope’s clients.


OUTCOME:  While the pressure to implement some of the proposed changes diminished along with the virulence of the pandemic, some of the proposed measures were in fact adopted in full, and these documents nevertheless continue to serve as an essential blueprint for the future development of the Farm Stand, if the timing becomes more auspicious.
